Healthy Individuals

This term we have been focussed on learning how to be a Healthy Individual. We have talked about what we have done so far this term, we have set goals for the rest of the term and we have worked on higher order thinkers keys around this idea.

One student has really taken the idea of being a Healthy Individual to heart and has brought fruit from her Grandfathers house to share with the class. Earlier in the week Maddison-Judith brought in Mandarins. They were tiny but delicious. Today we were able to try Black Boy Peaches. Some of us loved them and some of us didn't but we all gave it a go.

Thanks Maddison-Judith!!

Camp Creepy Crawly

What a fantastic night everyone had at Camp Creepy Crawly. There were big smiles on everyone's face. Everyone ate well, played well and gardened well. The teachers had a great time too. Thanks everyone for making it a really special camp.

Our Baking from Week 7

On Wednesday last week we did some baking as part of our measurement work. We had done some work based on the Gingerbread Man story and so Mrs Kingi thought it would be great fun to bake some gingerbread.

We were all very excited and loved getting to help measure, mix and make. Parents you now have some gingerbread men making experts.

Measurement Lesson

This week for our strand maths we were investigating measuring using gingerbread men.

First we watched a video to remind us of the story of the gingerbread man.

Then we got to work.

Some of us choose to dress the gingerbread man. That required us to think about the size of his clothes, how we were going to attach it and how we would measure the clothing so it would fit.

Another group decided to work out which order of size our gingerbread family would need to go in to cross the river. It had to be either smallest to biggest or biggest to smallest.

And finally a few students used our gingerbread man to work out what things were smaller, bigger or the same size as the gingerbread man.

Friday Afternoon Fun

Because there was no assembly on, Totara class became a class of explorers. We explored all sorts of things in our classroom, while Mrs S and Kylie supported others in finishing off some assessments. Mrs S did take a few minutes to take photos of what we did. It was a lot of fun and it didn't feel like work at all.

I was so excited about wearing a skirt and having a wand I wanted to show the whole school.

Mika was very proud of being dressed up like a lady.

"I'm a supermarket lady and I help with the groceries in my apron"

We are learning how to work together to create different shapes with our math equipment.

Isaac proves that if ladies can do it, so can gents!

We created a bridal outfit - after we had worked in our supermarket.
